Memory Care is a special kind of long-term care that is provided to those with varying degrees of Dementia or Alzheimer's. Memory Care offers 24-hour supervised care. Meals, health management, and activities are provided for the residents. Memory Care Communities should provide a stress-free lifestyle in a structured environment that ensures the health and safety of a senior, while focusing on programs that increase cognitive skills and slow the progression of Dementia or Alzheimer's.
Memory Care Communities assist their residents with all Activities of Daily Living (ADL). This includes, but is not limited to Assistance with bathing, showering, dressing, toileting, ambulation, personal hygiene, medical monitoring, medicine management, feeding assistance, physical therapy, mental therapy, etc...Their environment is secured and designed to make it easy for residents to navigate. Memory Care Communities will also provide their residents with housekeeping services, laundry services, three meals per day, and frequent snacks.
Generally speaking, Memory Care Communities are often more expensive that Assisted Living Communities and can range anywhere from $4,500 to $15,000 per month.
